Alison Burke
Alison Burke is the President at Impressions PR, a public relations firm. She is the mother of three boys and an entrepreneur. She shared with us about what life was like for her juggling a career with motherhood.
Alison chose to meet us at Kidville, a client of Impressions PR, explaining, “it really encompasses everything that has to do with my life as a mom and entrepreneur.” Her kids take programs there and it has even been a place for her to hold work meetings. Growing up in the Yonge and Lawrence area, Alison reminisced to us about having gone to high school just around the corner and about how dearly she holds the area in her heart. She says that it’s a great area to do things like visiting local shops or going for ice-cream with your kids; noting that Toronto in general has many pockets in the city for families to explore.
Alison then spoke to us about the aspects of being a mom-trepreneur, sharing how meetings among moms who are entrepreneurs can take place in a Starbucks of a local community rather than the conventional, big street office. There may not be a typical work environment but she says it still “gets the job done really well” and you’re still able to “live a fabulous life and juggle with the craziness of having kids.”
