Fall in this city just is not complete without adding a trip to the Royal to your list of what to do in Toronto. The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair opens its gates at the Ricoh Centre and the Direct Energy Building, at Exhibition Place, from November 2-11, 2018
There really is nothing quite like walking into the Royal. The sights and smells will amaze any child or adult. Where else can you find gigantic vegetables, livestock, butter sculptures and learn how our food travels from the farm to our plate? In fact, there are so many incredible things to see, that it is impossible to list them all. Here are a few highlights.
What to do in Toronto: Royal Must-Sees
The Harvest Path
Cruise down the Harvest Path and be amazed at the variety of vegetables farmers are growing. Discover new veggies that even look too beautiful to eat. You’ll also find award winning honey, maple syrup, jellies and jams. Of course the Giant Vegetable Competition is another show favourite.
So Many Cows
You know when you see a cow as you drive down a country road. They look so serene and small. Well, come to the Royal and you will get up close with cattle .. they are huge and majestic. There are over 1000 beef and dairy cows at the Royal.
Petting Farm
The kids will love a trip to the petting farm. It is incredible to watch the goats, sheep and llamas interact with children. It’s a magical place to visit.
The Royal Horse Show
The Royal Horse Show is an entire event on to itself at the Royal. Watch various competitions, including the first Junior Jumper Competition, with competitor under the age of 18. Check out the beautiful restored antique coaches, which will be displayed during the horse show. Or, simply tour the historic Horse Palace and get up close to the horses and trainers. To attend the Royal Horse Show you will need to purchase an additional ticket.
President’s Choice Animal Theatre
An entire theatre dedicated to working dogs! This is where you can check out sheep herding, rabbit jumping (yes, rabbit jumping), horse riding demonstrations and the President’s Choice Superdogs.
Pro-tip: Plan your visit for a weekday evening as weekends can get quite busy. Whenever you go, I know that your trip to the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair is one you and your family will never forget.
