Tessa Farr is the Artistic Director at the Lower Ossington Theatre and mother to Drexel. For the first eight to nine months of his life, Drexel was introduced to and lived life behind-the-scenes at the theatre. “Working” alongside his mom (read: sleeping in her office), he was well-known among the actors and was often referred to as her “assistant”.
Tessa spoke to us about the innocence of children when they experience live theatre for the first time. She shared some of the differences between them seeing a live theatre show versus a film where she says “the fourth wall is just so present.”
In regards to raising a child in Toronto, Tessa had nothing but praise. Having previously lived in places like Manhattan and Long Island, she was certain that Toronto had both beat. She spoke about the advantages of living in such a city where one could have a swing set in the front yard but still be situated in the city. In her words, “It’s unlike any city I’ve ever been in… and the food is unsurpassable.”
